Frequently asked questions.
Quick answers about ordering, selling, service areas, fees, fulfillment, food disclosures, and support.
What is Arctic Plate?
Arctic Plate is an Alaska-focused marketplace for independent local food sellers. Customers can discover seller storefronts and order through Arctic Plate; sellers manage their own listings, pricing, availability, and fulfillment.
Where is Arctic Plate available?
Arctic Plate currently supports Anchorage, Wasilla, Palmer, and Fairbanks. Seller and fulfillment availability can differ by city and seller.
Who can sell on Arctic Plate?
Independent cooks, bakers, meal-prep businesses, caterers, and other food businesses may be eligible. The food, preparation environment, location, licensing/permitting status, and other requirements can affect eligibility.
Is seller signup free?
During launch, seller access is $0/month and there is no seller commission on food sales during launch. Pricing may evolve later, with applicable changes communicated before they apply.
Does Arctic Plate inspect or certify sellers?
No. Arctic Plate reviews sellers for marketplace readiness before public listing, but that review is not a government inspection, license, or legal certification. Sellers remain responsible for applicable requirements.
How does delivery work?
A seller may offer pickup, seller delivery, or Arctic Plate delivery where available. Not every seller or city will have every option.
How do customer fees work?
The marketplace shows applicable service and delivery fees before checkout. The final total is shown before you place the order.
Can homemade food be sold online in Alaska?
Alaska DEC allows eligible homemade food to be sold online to Alaska consumers, subject to product and sales-method requirements. Some potentially hazardous homemade food must be sold directly by the producer.
How do cancellations and refunds work?
Requests depend on order stage and responsibility. Seller preparation information and administrator review may be required before money moves.
Do sellers have to stop using their current sales channels?
No. Arctic Plate can operate alongside a seller’s existing ordering and marketing channels.
